Welcome to Midwest Foster Dad
About Midwest Foster Dad
My journey to foster parenting wasn’t a straight line. It started years ago, working within the child welfare system. One case, in particular, changed everything for me. I was working with a five-year-old child named “A” who had been subjected to horrifying home conditions and witnessed the death of his mom. That experience solidified my desire to do more than just advocate for children within the system; I wanted to provide a safe and loving home.
Before becoming a foster dad, I spent 4 years as a Children’s Services Caseworker and 3 years as a Guardian ad Litem. I’ve seen the foster care system from all angles, and that experience informs everything I do as a foster parent.
I hope this blog will become a supportive community for foster parents, prospective foster parents, and anyone interested in learning more about this journey. Let’s share our stories, learn from each other, and make a difference.
